Hi! I'm Billie- Mama to one very cheeky little girl. Our days generally consist of snacking, picking flowers and going on walks to look for dogs or horses. Becoming a Mum opened my eyes to how wonderful being a parent can be, but also how difficult it can be at times. 


One of these difficult times for me was bedtime. While my daughter was a 'good sleeper' who slept big chunks through the night, it could take me 1.5 hours each night to feed, rock, sway, juggle, pat and sing her to sleep and then do the very careful transfer into the cot. By the time she was finally asleep I was exhausted, and had nothing left in my tank except to make a cup of tea and get into bed myself. The nights were especially hard if she woke and needed another 1.5 hours of rocking back to sleep. I began dreading sleep time and felt like I hardly spoke to or spent time with my partner- our daughter would not settle at all for him, from no lack of trying on his part, and so the load fell completely on me.

 

I was reluctant to change anything though, or give sleep training a go, because I thought I knew best. The final straw was spending more than 4 hours in one night settling her between bedtime and night wakes and I was done. We decided to give sleep training a go and made changes to the sleep in our house that we were comfortable with. We knew that the changes were for the benefit of everyone and that if we were all getting more sleep and were happier about sleep times, our days and our relationships would thrive as well. Within a couple of nights we were able to share the bedtime duties, were all getting many more hours of sleep a night, we all had an extra bounce in our step the next day. My partner and I even enjoyed a glass of wine and a chat over dinner 🙂


Seeing how small changes can have a huge positive impact on not just our baby's sleep, but how our whole family functioned, is the reason I became a Sleep Consultant. I want to help other parents get their family life back on track. I want  parents to be able to make decisions about their child's sleep and feel confident making changes when they need to. Sleep isn't linear and there will be sleep bumps along the way, but by working with me I will equip you with the knowledge to make changes across your child's life when they are required, not just the for short time that we work together .
